Corticosteroids in SLE

• Low dose for arthritis, serositis;
• high-dose (1 mg/kg) ± pulse (1 g × 3 d) for major dis. (eg, renal, CNS, heme). Minimize as able.
• S/E
  • Adrenal suppression,
  • diabetes,
  • cataracts,
  • osteopenia,
  • avascular necrosis of bone,
  • myopathy
