Colonic infection. Outbreaks frequently occur in institutions (e.g., daycare) and in food supply (e.g., raw vegetables contaminated with feces). Transmission can also occur by sexual contact, contaminated food/water, or person to person. Incubation period averages 3 days. Treatment: Fluroquinolone.
