Buerger disease

  • Heavy tobacco smoking history, males < 40 years old.
  • Intermittent claudication. May lead to gangrene, autoamputation of digits, superficial nodular phlebitis.
  • Raynaud phenomenon is often present.

Segmental thrombosing vasculitis with vein and nerve involvement. Treatment: smoking cessation.

King George VI was diagnosed with the disease on 12 November 1948.
