Febrile neutropenia

• single oral temperature of ≥38.3°C (101°F) or a temperature of ≥38.0°C (100.4°F) sustained for ≥1 hour
• and absolute neutrophil count (ANC) <500 cells/mm3 (or anticipated to decrease to <500 cells/mm3 in the next 48 hours)

Hx

• type and timing of the chemotherapy regimen used

• use of other immunosuppressive medications

• prior antibiotic exposures

• history of prior infections including colonization with multidrug resistant organisms

• compliance difficulties with current prophylactic antibiotics (if any)
