Malignant disease:
- Auto HSCT allows high-dose myeloablative chemo and then rescue what would be otherwise lethal cytopenias with autologous stem cells.
- Used in chemosensitive diseases
- relapsed/refractory DLBCL,
- MM,
- testicular germ cell tumor.
- Allo HSCT produces graft-vs.-tumor (GVT) effect, in addition to hematopoietic rescue
- AML
- ALL
- MDS
- CML-blast crisis
- CLL
- lymphoma
Nonmalignant disease:
allo HSCT replaces abnl lymphohematopoietic system w/ one from nl donor
- immunodeficiencies
- aplastic anemia
- hemoglobinopathies
