  • Eggs, poultry, milk, hamsters.
  • Bacteremia in 5–10%.
  • 10–33% of bacteremic Pts >50 y may develop aortitis.

Nontyphoidal species cause gastroenteritis. Most commonly due to ingestion of infected poultry, eggs, milk products; less commonly due to contact with pets or reptiles. Incubation period <72 hours. Treatment: Self-limited, provide support/rehydration; if severe, consider fluroquinolone.
