Description

• Consists of conditioning regimen (chemo &/or RT to eradicate dz & achieve immunosuppression to prevent graft rejection) → followed by infusion of donor HSC allograft to replenish hematopoietic system & further eradicate dz via graft-vs.-tumor effect

• Indications: In general, dzs that would not benefit from additional standard tx or are resistant to chemo (BBMT 2015;21:1863), eg, selected malignancies (high-risk or rel/ref acute & chronic leukemias, HL & NHL, plasma cell dyscrasias, MDS, MPN); aplastic anemia & other marrow failure states, PNH, thalassemia, sickle cell dz, SCID
