Kawasaki disease

Usually Asian children < 4 years old.

CRASH

  • Conjunctivitis, Bilateral nonexudative bulbar
  • Rash (polymorphous desquamating),
  • Adenopathy (cervical)
  • Strawberry tongue (oral mucositis),
  • Hand-foot changes (edema, erythema),

Burn: fever.

Arteritis associated with the mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome and predominantly affecting medium and small arteries. Coronary arteries are often involved. Aorta and large arteries may be involved.

  • Treatment: IV immunoglobulin and aspirin.
